What is Contrology?

Contrology, originally introduced by Joseph Pilates in 1929, it is also the foundation of classical Pilates. It represents a unique approach to movement that emphasizes the integration of mind, body, and spirit.
When you do classical Pilates, it is totally different from modern Pilates, because you demand to focus awareness of each body part in motion.

There are six simple principles of Contrology, including
1. Breathing: Mindful breathing patterns enhance movement efficiency.
2. Centering: The core (or “powerhouse”) serves as the center of control and stability.
3. Flow: Smooth, continuous movements promote grace and balance.
4. Concentration: Intense mental focus on precise muscle engagement.
5. Control: Deliberate, controlled movements to avoid unnecessary strain.
6. Precision: Attention to detail in executing exercises.
